What is the Woodson Foundation, Inc.?

The Woodson Foundation, Inc. is a local 501 (c)(3) charitable corporation whose mission is to:

Extend scholarships to disadvantaged students and,

Provide community service to the disadvantaged and downtrodden.

Scholarships are available to Madison area high school seniors who enroll full-time in accredited post-secondary educational institutions that grant the following:

Baccalaureate degrees

Vocational/technical associate degrees

Vocational diplomas/certificates

The goal of the foundation is to improve the quality of life in the Madison community.

Is there a Board of Directors?

Yes. The Board of Directors is composed of officers of the foundation and other graduate financial members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., an international service organization since 1911.

The Woodson Foundation, Inc. Programs

The scholarship Program-Grants cash scholarships and/or awards to disadvantaged college-bound, graduating high school seniors.

The Tutoring Program-Provides tutorial services in reading, math and writing to disadvantaged children in grades 1-8.

The Social Action Program-Engages in multi-faceted community service projects of a charitable nature, such as providing food for the needy at Thanksgiving.

The Cultural Enrichment Program-Promotes cultural opportunities for disadvantaged youth that lack access to major arts and cultural institutions.
